Calgary Airport Set For Record Revenues in 2023
The Calgary International Airport, Canada’s 4th busiest airport, is recovering from the challenges of the pandemic and is near full recovery according to its 2022 annual report. In 2022, the airport served 14.5 million passengers, a 128% increase from 2021, and only 3.5 million short of 2019's record of 18 million. The airport's revenues in 2022 almost doubled from the previous year, reaching $416 million, and are forecasted to surpass pre-pandemic levels in 2023.
WestJet’s designation of Calgary as its global connecting hub and the addition of new non-stop flights are helping the airport exceed 2019's record-setting benchmarks.
There are also discussions about rail link projects, including Calgary-to-Edmonton, Calgary-to-Banff, and a link to the city's LRT system via the Blue Line.
The airport is trending to bring in record travellers, and more people mean more trade, prosperity, commerce, and jobs that will benefit the surrounding areas and whole of Calgary. More people means more demand for housing which means higher prices.
If you want to take advantage of this, Horizon Condos is only 11km way from the airport – far enough that you won’t even know the airport is there but close enough to benefit from the increased business it will bring. Plus you are only about 15 minute drive to the terminal!
