Calgary’s Iconic Saddledome to be Demolished!

Another incredible announcement for Calgary - an agreement to replace the aging Saddledome with a new Culture & Entertainment District has just been announced. The project is expected to cost $1.22 billion and span over two city blocks!

PROJECT TO INCLUDE:
• a new home for the Calgary Flames
• a community arena
• lots of other infrastructure as part of the Rivers District masterplan

WHY IS THIS NEEDED?
The Saddledome broke ground in 1981 and was built for use in the '88 Olympics, and it is the oldest active NHL arena that has not been significantly renovated. Calgary needs a modern facility to attract "A" class events like venues like other major cities do.
